 Q: Ms. Kisty, you’re really awesome. And I admire your strength. Going to school abroad while handling your haters is no easy feat. I also see that you’re interested in fashion and design. :-) I’ve been reading your blog for so long now, and even though people at times say that you’re copying, you still remain respectful. I hope you find what’s truly and uniquely yours so that haters will have nothing more horrible to say.

Yes but not entirely. I don’t regret my past but there are days that the sad and bad times would simply haunt me. My past is like a scar, I’ll get over it but it’s always going to be there as a remembrance.

No, I’m happy with where I am right now and who I’ve become. My past was pretty messed up and because of that, I will always and forever wonder what my life could have been if I didn’t make those choices but I regret nothing. :)

I bought the paper lanterns in Singapore. :) The Keep Calm and Carry On book was from Fullybooked, if I’m not mistaken. I bought it last June pa eh (See the book in one of my shoots last July). :)

Q: Hi! I’m going to singapore. What are the places that I should go to? I mean what are the best places to visit in singapore, aside from universal studios?

If it’s your first time, the Merlion Park and Marina Bay Sands is a must because that’s where they all keep their famous landmarks. Well, they’re all relatively close to one another. 

Orchard Road for shopping. Clarke Quay for a bustlin’ night life. Jurong Area for the Night Safari and Discovery/Science Centre (I forgot which one is near Jurong MRT, sorry). Chinatown and Bugis for shopping for a lower price. Food is pretty much available everywhere.

 Q: Could you recommend good hotels to stay at along orchard road? :)

I can’t really recommend one coz’ I’ve only been to Orchard Hotel. I can’t really recall the service there coz’ it’s been more than a year ago since we’ve stayed there. The hotel is located at the start of the famous shopping road and about a block away from ION Orchard (where the Orchard MRT is located).

Singapore should pay me for the publicity they’re getting, lol.

I have no idea if it’s cheaper in China because when we went to Beijing, I find most of the things there too expensive. I guess it depends where in China you’re heading since after all, Beijing is the capital city so urbanization tends to make prices go higher. Thailand is alright, so is Malaysia. And thank you! :)

Q: hey kisty. :) how do you edit your videos on playing it fast forward? and what program/tool d`you used on making the vid?

I edit videos using iMovie. When you click on the clip, there’s somes sort of dialog box will appear. You can edit the speed and audio there.

Ask Kisty A Question

I want to reply privately but obviously you weren’t logged in and because of that, I’m not going to answer your question/message fully as I don’t want people to misinterpret my answers. Hope that’s okay with you. I’m just going to quote some lines which I think needs an explanation.

“I hope you two won’t be too self-centered thinking that you are the one with the original idea”

Saying this makes me somehow self-centered but the truth is, I never claimed that title and never will. I’m smart enough to accept the fact that somebody else thought of it first before we did.

Like the circle sidebar, I only found out now but it seems that stateofkind.tumblr.com did it first. My inspiration of the circle sidebar come from endless browsing of other people’s blog coz’ most of them were using circle profile photos, lol. 

“Why not just all move on and enjoy what you’re doing no matter how similar it is to one another.”

I’ve been asking that question so many times now and I still don’t know why it’s so hard for people to simply move on and mind their own business. For the record, it’s not me who can’t seem to move on… 

Uhm, this issue will never, ever, ever die down. I’ve completely accepted that fact a long, long time ago, so I’ve made it my personal choice to just do what makes me happy, regardless of what these people will think. In the end, I’m not the one who gets pissed off.

Lol thanks! :) I’ve been into sketching since I was a little kid. :) I would even spend more time drawing rather than learning how to write my own name legibly. Haha.

It’s an old inside joke between me and my boyfriend because I’m a mermaid since birth! I’m only in my human form because I’m really curious about your kind.

I loved Disney’s The Little Mermaid ever since I could remember. In fact, I would sing “Part of Your World” every afternoon all throughout the first grade. Good thing I wasn’t in the water or else, I would’ve drown sailors to their death or something (That’s a false myth about our kind, by the way!)

Did you know that the real story of The Little Mermaid is so depressing that it wasn’t a happily ever after? And did you know that the girl on the Starbucks logo is originally a mermaid (it still is, except they’ve been cropping the fins part)? I knew this before I even verified the information from Google because we can detect our own kind. This is probably why I like to lounge at Starbucks more often than other coffee shops.

 Q: Hi Kisty! I was using a Nikon D40 today and it was already running out of battery. But when I tried to turn it on again, it said, “error press shutter release button”. What does that mean? And how do I fix it?

Hi! Sorry for the late respond. I assume you’ve tried turning it on and off and so on. If yes, is your camera working already? If not, then I think you need to send it to Nikon (and maybe reset the shutter count).

I think the standard cost is around 30K, without travel money. The rate really depends on the time you want to visit. Airfare usually cost around 10K but it can go cheaper if you were lucky enough to avail promos or book ahead of time. For accommodations, you can stay at a hostel (it’s like dorm, cost about SGD20/night) or a hotel (roughly around SGD200/night). If you book at Agoda.com, you’ll get awesome hotel rates. :)

Q: If I were to shop in singapore and malaysia, what shops would you recommend?

My trip to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia last year was just a three-day trip and the only reason we were able to go there was because my mom had a culinary immersion trip. We were only able to submerge in shopping during our third and final day, so we headed out to Bukit Bintang. Since our time was very limited, we only went to The Pavilion (which is like KL’s Greenbelt) and then to Low Yat Plaza (where electronics are said to be cheap!). You can also try Central Market for cheap finds. 

As for Singapore, the country is a shopping haven. I like ION Orchard but for cheap finds, Bugis is probably the place to be to shop because it’s like Mong Kok in Hong Kong or a less chaotic version of Divisoria in Manila. You can also try Chinatown but I’ve only been there once during the CNY eve.

Q: Hi Ate Kisty! I just want to ask, why did you get a rebond and how many times have you done it? Any tips?

I got a rebond because I have naturally curly/wavy hair. Truth is, I was pretty unhappy with it because it was curly on the top but wavy (or sometimes, straight) at the bottom. For me, I find it a pretty weird sight and I always had to tie it in a bun or something. Not to mention, media portrayed that having straight hair makes you prettier. In other words, I was unhappy and insecure about my hair so I went through rebond. 

Ever since then I’ve been hooked to rebond treatment but since my hair is awfully dry from recent hair coloring treatment, I have no choice but to let it grow out. Let’s see what happens. 

There are a lot of tips on Google but this site might help you out, too. :) Lately, I’ve been using virgin olive oil on my hair (Not everyday, of course! I only apply it when I feel like it and when I don’t need to get out of the house).

Q: What are some of the beauty products you use to wash/moisturize your face? 

I’m currently using a random facial scrub from Neutrogena and moisturizer from Olay. I’m not really particular with the brand, I just prefer it to be non-comodogenic (plus points if it’s oil-free).
